Nestled in the heart of Hokkaido's scenic Furano basin, Furano Wine emerged in 1972 when Furano City established the Furano Grape and Fruit Tree Research Institute. The location's unique geography creates ideal winemaking conditions - surrounded by mountains that generate significant temperature differences between day and night, concentrating sugars in the grapes while maintaining excellent acidity. This continental climate, combined with abundant sunshine hours, produces grapes with intense color and high sugar content. As Hokkaido's second municipal winery, Furano Wine has become synonymous with premium wine tourism, offering visitors spectacular views of the Tokachi mountain range from their hillside facility. Their signature wines, including the award-winning 'Müller Thurgau' that earned gold at the Monde Selection, showcase the distinctive character of northern Japanese viticulture. The winery's red brick architecture and panoramic vineyard views make it a beloved destination for wine enthusiasts and tourists exploring Hokkaido's agricultural heritage.
